The Process.

  • The customer can send in their own new or lightly-worn pair of cycling shoes, or a new pair can be supplied for them here in the UK. Simon has worked on a huge amount of major brands such as SIDI, GIRO, Fizik, Specialized, Rapha, Lake, Bontrager, Gaerne, BONT and Shimano; so it's highly likely the shoes you wear will be a candidate for customisation.

  • It is always best if you, the customer, can provide as much information about any design ideas that you have - Simon will advise what will work best depending on the model of shoe that you would like to have customised. You can always check out the Portfolio section of the page for some inspiration, however each design will remain unique and will not be recreated.

  • Each pair is professionally prepared before work commences with all artwork being applied by hand-painting. Multiple layers of waterproofing and scratch/scuff protection are added once a design is complete and the pair are left to set for a day before being sent out. The paint itself is extremely hard wearing and adheres to a huge amount of materials that form the upper of a cycling shoe (leather, patent-leather, microfibre, mesh, fabric and dyneema) - but of course like with any factory pair of shoes, major crashes, scrapes and scuffs can cause damage to the artwork.

  • The cost for a pair of Artful Kicks does of course differ depending on the design and whether or not you would like Simon to source a pair of new shoes for you. Once an enquiry is made an approximate turnaround time will be sent over - this can be reduced by choosing to use the Queue Jump option available. Please visit the 'Contact/Enquire' section of the website to make an enquiry, or you can email Simon directly at:
